Our Doctors

Dr. Esther Cherrick

Medical Director

Dr. Cherrick graduated from Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her clinical year at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Cherrick also holds a Bachelor of Science from Loyola University Chicago in Biological Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences from Colorado State University. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. In her free time, Dr. Cherrick enjoys reading, playing with her Bichon Frise puppy ‘Naggie’, spoiling her niece, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Marlena Chada

Dr. Chada graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and also received a BS in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. Her professional interests are surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine. Dr. Chada likes baking, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. She also has a rescue puppy named Larrabee, who she loves playing fetch at the park with.

Dr. Sarah Doan

Dr. Doan graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She also has a BA in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. In her free time, Dr. Doan enjoys cooking, playing with her Australian shepherd Ella, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Patrick Frenzer

Dr. Patrick Frenzer joined North Avenue Animal Hospital in October 2023. He grew up in Edgebrook before traveling to the University of Florida for college. There, he received a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Materials Engineering before making the switch to Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Patrick graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 2018, after which he completed a year-long rotating internship at a specialty hospital in Long Island. He practiced for several years in the Tampa, FL, area before returning home to Chicago.

He has a special interest in veterinary behavior and prides himself on client education and low-stress handling. Outside of work, Dr. Patrick enjoys playing video and board games, watching horror movies, and spoiling the family gray-muzzle doggo Seamus (and his niece and nephew Goldendoodles).’
